Hi, I’m Kim!
I’m a Certified Youth Resilience Coach / Academic Coach / Career Discovery Coach and Certified Youth Mental Health First Aider.
I work with teens and young adults to help them chart a path forward in their lives after milestones like high school and college graduations as they navigate their many potential choices for their futures.
I do this work because I like hanging out with young people. My two sons are 23 and 20 and they’ve both passed milestones in the last few years, out there navigating all those many life choices. Some of my favorite moments as their mom have been just hanging out with them and their friends, talking about who they are and what they’d like to do in the world.
Having done this for years, I still believe what I’ve always believed: that each one of us is unique with a life path based on that uniqueness. We are each capable, with a combination of brain wiring, natural strengths, skills and interests that only WE have and that we can explore to figure out how to do our best work in the world. But, it can be overwhelming to figure out how to start on that path. And how to pivot when the path changes.
How do we explore and choose? Where do we go next? It starts with understanding who we are and what kind of life we want to live, then exploring our natural instincts, interests, passions. I enjoy asking young people questions that help them dig deep and discover those things for themselves. For me, this process is the real stuff—exploration is meant to be enlightening … and fun!
I have 25+ years of career experience across the fields of law, marketing and writing. My journey was tough because I didn’t have good guidance. I made some poor decisions that affected my financial future and made me deeply unhappy. I worked it out over time with help—but not until I was in my late 20s. I wish I’d had engaged mentors or coaches who could have helped me earlier … so now I am one!
(I’m also a writer and geeky lifelong learner, so writing college essays with teens, helping people journal their way to self-discovery, and exploring possible futures of all kinds is the good stuff for me.)
I look forward to meeting you!
